The approached subjects are various, covering the entire curricular area and all the specialists’ competence domains.
This being the only specialty journal in the country, the persons eligible to publish in it are both members of the teaching staff involved in the formation of future specialists and persons involved in practice, personalities involved in the research process in physical therapy.
In what the contents are concerned, the journal contains: editorials, articles for orientation, clinical and experimental studies, book reviews, scientific events, inventions and innovations.
The journal is governed by the Romanian Federation of Physical Therapy Associations and it is edited by the Publishing House of the University of Oradea .
The main purpose of the journal is to give examples of good practice and to valorize the results of research activities, as well as to provide a permanent source of information which should contribute to the continuous professional formation of specialists in the domain.
Objectives
- The journal should represent a means to enrich the specialists’ knowledge by presenting the most recent studies and researches in the domain.
- The value of the magazine should be increased by respecting the criteria necessary to promote the journal in a superior category, contributing thus to the process of promotion in Academic career.
- We also wish to increase the quality standard of the journal in order to obtain international recognition by indexing the journal in the international ISI data base or in prestigious international catalogues.
- Another objective is to promote abroad the work of specialists in the domain both from the Academic environment and from the domain of profession practice by means of obtaining international exchanges with journals from the same domain.
Ever since the foundation of the physical therapy specialization within the University of Oradea, the idea has occurred to promote it through a specialty journal. At the request of the teaching staff from Oradea, the first articles about physical therapy have appeared articles which were selected and thus, in 1995, in cooperation with the Romanian Academy Branch from the Meinheim Institute, Munchen, the first journal appeared entitled THE ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF PHYSICAL THERAPY. The beginnings were hesitating but they constituted a basis for further research. Therefore, the first issues had a limited number of articles and the appearance frequency was annual. Once the first series of physical therapy students in Romania graduated, the number of scientific articles increased significantly and under these circumstances the appearance frequency of the journal changed, becoming biannual, constantly since 2005 up to present.
Since 1997, physical therapists have been organized in professional associations and the Romanian Federation of Physical Therapy Associations was founded. After the foundation of this association, several scientific conferences were organized, attended by specialists from the theoretical and practical domains from the country and abroad, the participation being materialized through the presentation of studies and researches on different physical therapy topics. The presented studies were selected by the journal’s editing committee and the most significant ones were included in its issues. The journal is under the patronage of the Romanian Federation of Physical Therapy Associations and it is edited by the Publishing House of the University of Oradea.
The published articles have reached a high quality standard, the quality standard being appreciated by researchers from abroad as well, as the journal contains articles signed by specialists from Hungary, Germany, Moldavian Republic, Greece.
The journal is included in the international data base; the abstracts of articles can be accessed/studied on the following site: http://www.fuko.ro Romanian Journal of Physical Therapy.
Up to present, 24 issues of the journals have been published.
In the six issues appeared during the past three years, there were published articles written by prestigious members of the teaching staff from the Academic education and by authors with national reputation.
